Coexist Foundation Home

  • God has given us many faiths but only one world in which to co-exist. May your work help all of us to cherish our commonalities and feel enlarged by our differences.

Insight Film Festival shortlisting

Insight Film Festival shortlisting

The Insight Film Festival, in association with Coexist, has received hundreds of entries from film-makers exploring faith. These have come from 44 countries in 34 languages: more than three-quarters of entrants are between 18 and 35. Films from a wide variety of faith backgrounds include such intriguing titles as ”Ocean Monk”, “A Hasidic Guide to Love, Marriage and Finding a Bride”, “God Wept and the Devil Laughed” and simply “God”.

Dr David Butler of Manchester University’s Centre for Screen Studies is chairing the short-listing panel.  The distinguished judges include Gary Kurtz, producer of Star Wars, David Weiss, a Hollywood screenwriter, Dr Mike Higton from the Cambridge Interfaith Programme and Amanda Rice, Head of Diversity at the BBC. The best films will be shown at the Insight Festival in Manchester on 3-4th December, when announcements of the winning films will be made.
